I'm not aware of stoles having been done anywhere before, but that certainly doesn't mean that it hasn't happened.  There is no official mention of stoles one way or the other, but the only mention of honor cords is the link we have here for ordering them.  Honestly, I would say that this would be up to each local chapter to create their own traditions and to fit in (as they see fit) with the traditions of their own school.
