Hello all, I am a new user and first year member to APO at Umaine at Farmington. Our cast is... to say it frankly... hardly worth mentioning. I have been voted the VP for the fall semester and will most likely be the Director for the spring. Since I joined (and so I hear, before) the cast has been struggling to find some sort of direction, purpose, and reason for existence. One of the main roadblocks the group faces is that TUMF, the theatre club, of which I am the VP, handles most of the Theatre. This includes budget and fundraising. Pretty much all that our cast does is usher (sometimes) for shows and provide consession (again, only sometimes) as a fundraisor, but we do nothing we the money.
My goal is to lead the group into a cohesive unit that is not stepping on the toes of TUMF.
I have some ideas but am not sure of what is appropriate.
These include special projects for the theatre (fundraising to provide for curtain repair, shop needs, costume, aesthetics, etc) . Leading other students who were not cast in the current plays or who are techs etc in a weekly improvisation workshop to work on technique. and lastly taking monthly trips.
Thats all I could come up with, unfortunatly I have been doing all this brainstorming on my own, as the cast is extremely disjointed, and have had no sense of direction myself.
I realise this is a huge task and is going to require alot of attention, so I thank everyone in advance for their time and help...
