i want to stay involved

I would love to stay involved with APO, I graduated August 2001 and was very active in my cast. Is there an alumni association? There should be one. Anyone out there, please share your thoughts. Now and Forever (and I want it to be forever) ~Amy

Hi there.  Yep, I want to stay involved too.  I was historian of my cast and I loved it.  I don't know of any alumni associations for this organization, but I would be very interested in helping one get started.  I'm located in Texas though.  Anyone else out there interested?

As near as I can tell, there is no historical precedent for alumni involvement.  My cast, seems to be one of the few with very active alumni.  This is because, until recently, we had gone for a very long time with no theatre faculty...just a very strong student program.  The alumni are what allows our cast to keep going.  If you are interested in continuing to work with Alpha Psi, I'd recommend dropping a note to the national officers expressing your interest and asking how you may help.

Hope that helps,
Susan M. Keaney

I have been a member since 1996. I am an alum of the Iota Gamma Cast from Cedar Crest College in Allentown PA, graduated 1998. I now live in North Carolina. Please let me know about alumni happenings for Alpha Psi Omega or Contact me about getting some sort of an alumni organization going.

PS my webpage is for the arts center I general manage.

National's has been open to experimentation with alumni groups for some time now:  the basic idea is give it a try and let them know how it works out.  (But do make sure the name and insignia don't somehow or other end up being used for non-society purposes).

It's easiest to set up a chapter alumni group, what with e-mail
and the like - Lambda Omega cast had an active chapter alumni officer and then elected an alumni secretary from each graduating class. The idea was that the most recent alumni secretary would be charged with keeping in touch with the actives and with his or her predecessors.

The alumni were kept informed about the chapter's doings and with the details on each new initiate - including their line letter and the family tree of their mentors.  In return, the actives were informed about what the alums were doing - which led to get togethers when the alumni came back to campus for shows or other events, and to the occasional group of actives getting off campus to see alumni projects.

Forming a group based on locality rather than chapter would be a bit harder to get going:  somebody would have to offer themseves as the contact person and check out area schools, professional and community theatres to see who's about and intrested.  And you'd need a reason for busy theatre people to get together on something. But it wouldn't take many to make a real difference.

We do also have the option of using the Internet to help regional alumni associations.  Maybe even this website Wink

What it really takes is people who want it to happen.  If someone contacts me and says: "I want to set up an alumni association for New York City", I will provide whatever help I can (can you say http://nycaa.alphapsiomega.org ?) and link from the main page.  This is also true for a cast specific AA - there's already a dx.alphapsiomega.org, there could easily be a dxaa.alphapsiomega.org.

But all of that requires 1 simple thing - someone to ask.
